Locked Out in the Rain

Hello all,
Last weekend was an interesting one. Well maybe more like frustrating. We led worship in Detroit Lakes at the Experience Church which we always have a great time doing. The church has a really fun and energetic vibe that makes it a blast to play for. The congregation meets in a VFW which at first feels a little strange but after a while you have the thought that church can really be anywhere. The building doesn’t really make the church, although they are nice.
After the service we loaded up and headed on our way. Still riding high from the great service we had, we though we should grab a bite to eat before tackling our two and a half hour or so drive. The food soon to be devoured was at a hole in the wall Mexican place called…..well i guess I don’t remember the name but that’s not important. What is important is that when you are about to exit a vehicle, especially when about to lock the doors, is to remove the keys. Something I did not do. And it was raining, hard. I had realized what I had done almost immediately and after trying to call the only two locksmiths listed we knew it was up to us to get the job done. What we needed was a coat hanger to gently guide behind the window, loop it over the lock and pull up. The Mexican place didn’t have one, Burger time across the street didn’t have one either. We could see an Ace Hardware off in the distance and though that maybe there was a chance they were open but still had our doubts. It was Sunday after all. I decided to try my luck and made a run for it. Of course it was closed. It was kind of the down town area with a number of businesses around so i know there had to be something open. I braved the rain once again and around the corner, there it stood. I knew immediately it was going to be our salvation. It was a Dress Barn.
I have always thought the name Dress Barn was kind of funny. Combining the names of a piece of womens clothing with a building used to shelter animals. I can picture the women wearing the dresses having knee high rubber boots on and carrying a shovel and covered animal waste. Nice store though.
So anyway, making a long story a little shorter, I didn’t walk away with a coat hanger. I got something even better, a small metal rod with a hook on the end. I don’t know what they would have used this thing for in the store but to me it was the perfect tool for the job. I ran back to the van in a moment of sheer triumph knowing we would be on the road in a matter of moments. What a great feeling it was when our pressed-to-the-window faces saw the lock rise to its unlocked position and we entered into the promised land…..van.

Our friends with the band Triple Stitch are holding a “Fund Razor” for their fellow band mate Greg “The Jager”. Greg has been fighting with some serious complications from meningitis since the beginning of March. If you want the whole story, you can follow it and any updates on Greg’s Caring Bridge site. God has already worked countless miracles in Greg’s recovery, but he still has a tough road ahead to recovery. We are asking you to keep Greg, his family, and Triple Stitch in your prayers as they move forward. We also ask that you consider being a part of the Triple Stitch Fund Razor and help raise money for Greg’s medical bills. We’d love to see these guys with shaved heads!
We serve a God who hears us! Thanks for praying alongside Greg’s family and friends!

OK, so this is the second blog post in 2 weeks. Right on track.
So what is new this week? Well we have a show that we are excited about that. Its tomorrow April,2 at the Uturn coffee shop and it is going to be our first time in Rochester,MN. Its always fun to play in new places. If you are in the area we would love for you to come out and say “hi.” We will be signing autographs after the show.
We will actually be one member short for the show. Roger is out with his fiancée in California getting things ready for his wedding this summer. (thanks Rog) Its always fun to play and sing the tricky parts of songs that Rog usually plays. Some songs Joe is even going to “take the reigns” and sing from the drums. Should be very interesting indeed.
I think its about this time every year when every person living in Minnesota asks themselves “why do I live here?” I am talking about the horribly, slow to warm up spring time of course. It seems like time just crawls when you are hinted with a taste of nice weather only to have it come a month later. One thing is for sure, you can really appreciate it when it gets here. Those winter layers of whatever melt away and the sun can finally reach those deep places that have been closed off from the chill for so long. It is a beautiful thing.
Well thats about all the rambling I could come up with this week.
Thanks for reading,
Craig
Keeping It Fresh

Hello All,
We are going to try and do new blog posts every week to try and keep everyone up to date with news and events and to just talk about anything we feel like. Hopefully we can do it.
So what have we been up to? Well we are working on our new CD which has been a lot of fun and much more work this time around. We did our last one in a weekend and was kind of a blur when it was all over with. Its nice to take things slower and a little more methodical. We are working with John from Hyland which has been a big help in both song structure and pushing us to get the right takes. Hyland is on tour for the next 3 weeks or so so recording is on hold. We have lead vocals done on 2 songs, guitar on most songs, and drums are done. Already it is sounding pretty huge and we still haven’t recorded bass which is going to make it even larger. We are getting pumped for the finished product and think everyone is going to like it.
In other news I got a big crack in my acoustic guitar over the weekend.*frown* I originally thought it got damaged from a horrible packing job in the trailer. Its always a scramble after a show to get things packed in a somewhat organized and orderly manner. Especially in the dark. Its kind of like bagging groceries times ten. Eggs don’t on the bottom. After thinking about it a little and seeing were the crack is on the car I figured out where it cane from. I had set the guitar down, in its soft case , a little hard on the pavement. I didn’t think anything of it at the time. It must have been at just the right angle. So at least I know now it was my own fault and and I don’t have to go on thinking it was someones bad packing job.
Oh ya that reminds me. Roger had pulled both of his muscles in his arms lifting weights the day before so he couldn’t help load. Ha Ha.
